Eye Sore...by Juli
The hubster and I have had the grand privilege of living in small, and very small places {yeah privilege my butt}. Our first little house was back in 2004 when we tied the knot and I moved in with Mr. Him. He rented a "converted" garage just down the street from Santa Rosa High and it topped out at 415 square feet. No joke, I could lay on our bed and open the fridge roll across the bed, plop onto the couch and turn on the TV with out even lifting my head from my pillow. Good times... Next {2 months later} we moved into a granny unit above a garage {hey were movin on up!} in Southwest Santa Rosa. It was bran spankin' new and measured 85 more square feet than our house before. At that time we ditched our hand me down furniture and made our first big purchases together at Ikea. The Expedit bookcase has moved with us from house #2 to house #3 {joel & justine's} and currently resides in our now 650 square foot {once again} converted garage. It is my only dedicated area for books, fabric, games, craft supplies and other doo-dads. It started as a love story and has turned out to be a giant eye sore {the bookcase that is}. No matter how many times I shuffle things around it just looks junky. Finally I said to myself "Self, you have got to do something about this." So I did. I went to Targee' and picked up a light curtain rod, a snazy shower curtain {dimensions were more exact than curtains} an some clips, and Wallah! Eye sore has been exterminated! Total cost was under $40 but as the Visa commercial says, priceless for me...

Was that first place Moriah and Caleb Walker garage? I remember when you guys were dating and he lived there...and before he lived there I used to hang out in that place all the time with Niki...back when I was like 15 and thought she had the coolest apt. ever!
Looks great Juli! It looked pretty orgainized before too but I see you found a new spot for your beautiful typewriter too!
Eye sore??! Not at all! I thought it looked organized before, hahaha...although, I don't know what those bins look like when you pull them out. Anyways, it looks like you took a great thing and only made it better. Good job juju!--Krissy
i think that first place was were shawn sosa lived (with Kit) for a short time before he & Z got married? we too have the awesome privilege of living in a small space in the area most call mini jerusalem. the only positive is it helps keep a more simpler life!
Thanks gals :) @jessie, yep that was in the walkers garage. Its a perfect place for a single person, a little cramped for two. Plus there were rats in the walls that were so loud!
juli~ i forgot about the rats! grosssss
I love it, what a great idea! Our place is a little bigger but I'm thinking you are brilliant, perfect for excess toys and crafts!
