So how did we end up being flown out to New York City for a taping in front of a live studio audience on the Nate Berkus Show? Well, let me start from the beginning.
I was home one afternoon and Justine called me and asked if I'd seen the Nate Berkus show yet. "Turn it on" she said "there is a family on there who do a childcare, shopping co-op thing. We should go on there, our story is more interesting than that". So I promptly went upstairs, logged on to the Nate Berkus website and shamelessly plugged our blog. Before I walked down to the bottom of the stairs, my phone rang with the caller ID flashing an unknown New York City phone number. What???? Yes, indeed it was the Nate Berkus show.
So began several weeks of many (we don't even want to dare to guesstimate) emails, phone calls, fretting and planning. The filming was broken out in two sections. The first shoot was filmed locally on Monday 10/18, then we were flown out to New York on Wednesday 10/20 and filmed in the studio on Thursday 10/21.
Can I give some exclusive sneak peek insider information? Hmmm. I can tell you that one of the producers told us to not clasp our hands nervously so I'm POSITIVE that my hands are going to be awkwardly roaming my lap with no place to settle. I sat RIGHT next to Nate Berkus and got an arm pat and a handshake. The Green Room "Craft Services Room" offered fruit, pastries & coffee but no bottled water. Nate Berkus show - are you reading? - put some bottled water in the Green Rooms for your dry-mouthed nervous guests.
More details coming soon....
