Soon, we will be getting weekly veggie CSA boxes from Foggy River Farms along with a dozen eggs. When we spotted their eggs at Big John's we had to buy some and check em out...especially when we saw the mixed carton of white, green & brown eggs.
Just for your reference, the green shelled eggs tasted the same as the brown. Someone told me once that only stressed out chickens laid white eggs. I don't know if I believe it. What d'ya think?
Unrelated: I think it's hard to choose a "favorite" of certain things (Candy? How can you choose???). But this pic has made me think that zinnias may be at the top of the favorite flower list.

you need chickens!
Oh Sam, how I want chickens :-)
I want chickens too! Hey I was thinking about doing the foggy river farms veggie box too. Have you received one yet!?!? I am curious about what you get and the quantity.
I haven't gotten a veggie box yet, it starts mid May. I will take pics for sure!
Our friends have chickens in their backyard and they lay the freshest tasting eggs...It's wierd, there is a difference!
Just in case you were really wondering about the chickens.....it depends on the type of chicken which color they turn out. we were looking into getting them and found that out. Western farms sells them and have a sheet showing the breed and the color egg they lay next to them. and also i love zinnias too! I just got some seed from Baker Creek called zinnia envy that are supposed to be chartreuse green!! Cant wait!
I was really wondering about the eggs Charity, thanks for clearing it up. I hope my friend who told me about the white eggs will chime in.....I know you're reading this, so chime in with a comment, you no-commenter :-)
Charity: you guys want chickens...I want chickens too! Do you think it would work in our yards? There's plenty of weeds for them on this side of the fence!
You guys have the perfect yard for chickens. What about Lola and Roscoe though...did I tell you when I saw Tanner chase a chicken and catch it? It looked soooo dead when we saw it hanging from his mouth, but when he dropped it, the chicken ran away ok. And Tanner had feathers hanging out of his mouth, I kid you not!!!
what!! green eggs really i never heard of it
hm "stressed out chickens laid white eggs."

Bobby
Julie,Let's see what we can do....we might even have a hutch for them!! Shon and Kit could easily build one also. Go to Western Farm and you will see!!
theres tons of "how- to" sites to help. Example: http://www.backyardchickens.com/coopdesigns.html
