#4 Apply For a Job I Don't Think I am Qualified For...by Juli

I never ever ever imagined myself working behind a desk kissing customers butt's 3 days a week for 9 years in a row. No, I was going to be a fashion designer, a veterinarian, a pastry chef, or a journalist. I even took costume design in high school, was the editor in chief of my high school newspaper, volunteered at a veterinarians office (ok, it was only one day, but a very memorable one) and worked in two fancy schmancy restaurants as a pastry assistant. Lets just say those were amazing experiences but didn't quite fit the bill. That is the rent bill, the car bill, or the grocery bill. I needed a regular 9 to 5.

Being the curious girl that I am I have always looked at Craigslist to see what amazing adventures laid ahead for me in the "jobs" section. A few months back I applied to be an assistant to a family in Marin, where the husband was a professor and the wife was a movie producer. They needed someone to organize their life. Shoot, I could do that! Well apparently I wasn't the applicant they were dreaming of but what did I lose in trying? Then a friend, a few months back, suggested me for a position in another insurance office. Although that is exactly what I am doing right now I considered the option but decided it wasn't what I had been dreaming of (remember fashion designer?!) Now just recently, I also was suggested for a position in the lending field. The circumstances couldn't have been more perfect but after weighing all the pro's and cons carefully, to the extreme, it made me realize that I have it pretty stinkin' good at my current job. So back to the butt kissing I go. Although I don't feel like I applied for "a job I am not qualified for", I did put myself out there and came to a realization that maybe what I need is a steady job to support all the other adventures I can have outside of work. Because if I had an exciting job maybe the rest of my life would be boring...right?
But...if you hear of someone needing a journalist that can sew and bake goodies while petting their dog, let me know :)

Think about it like that! If you had the perfect job it could possibly take more time away from jehovah, hubster, lola, and your many projects!

You would an incredible journalist & everything else you listed having wanted to do! I'm glad you chose what 'fits the bill' so you can Pioneer -an adventure in it's own right you'll probably agree ;-) Thanks for sharing this for all of us who are doing the job that fits the bill so we can do other more important things ;-) Maybe Jah will hook you up with a job writing parts of new scrolls, or designing period garb for resurrected ones..hm!

Jessica, yes I was at TJ Maxx. Early Wednesday maybe around 9:30? I ran in there real quick before I had to go to work. I need a new swimsuit. The selection was lame. I did get two new bras which I really needed and they were priced good. I didn't see you!!
