Cookbook Swap! by Jessica

Well, today was cookbook swap day! I do question our choice to take a photo with our books still wrapped....but anyways, I guess it shows our great taste in wrapping paper, and possibly our last wrapped present in cute paper.

We have also answered some questions that we have been receiving during the project:

"So does that mean that I'm getting a musty old used goodwill item as a present from you this year?"

No, gifts do not need to be purchased used, although we are going to make an effort to have the gifts be a consumable item or handmade.

"All house projects are on hold? You're not going to buy paint for that wall until next year??"
We have decided that paint and other household improvement items are allowed for purchase. This means paint, nails, tile, etc. are allowed. But things like throw pillows, rugs, drapes, etc. are not.

"Between you three girls I've calculated that about 13 coffee shop disposable cups per week are thrown away. I think that's more wasteful than you're shopping. "

We agree! That's why we have also agreed to bring our own cup into Starbucks. Bonus: discount for your coffee!

"Would you like to come to the most discounted shopping sale with me in the city next week?"
Thanks for the invite. Some of us have agreed that a jubilee day would be acceptable (jubilee day = shopping like crazy mad woman day). Some of us will abstain from jubilee day. Guess you'll just have to guess which of us are jubilicious.

"I'd love to join in, but I can't do it for a year, can I join you for a month of no spending on anything new?"
We'd love to have you join us. Please contact us so you can share your experience with us all. We already have some J's signed up for some guest appearances. One J has already started her month on January 1st and will be chiming in soon with a post. Another J committed to a month of not buying anything unless it was on sale....but that's not hard-core enough for The J Project. And you don't need to be a J to join the project. We welcome all letters :-)

If you look closely at the people behind me in the photo they are like, "What the heck are those silly girls doing....its just a book!" -Juli

So, I am thinking about joining the project for the month of February. It does not have anything to do with the fact that February only has 28 days...okay, maybe a little! ;-) Nothing new for a whole month! I am not sure what the other part should be though...any suggestions? I would like to do something with cooking, a good challenge but nothing too crazy! haha... Jamie
