One Month Down!!

So when I first heard that the three J's were going to do this project I thought they were crazy!! I love shopping way too much to give it up. But, then I thought about how much I would save money especially on not buying movies and new clothes that I really didn't need. So last month Jared and I decided to give it a try and do it month by month. Starting February 1st I felt a little anxious about it and feeling like I was being deprived of any fun but then we started discovering shopping at Goodwill and thrift stores again. You really can find some awesome things at these places and pay practically nothing for them. The only hard thing I have found is shopping for Lucas. There are not very many 24month boy clothes at these places so unfortunately I did have to buy a couple new things for Lucas this month. Other then that one down fall we have really found quite a bit for the two of us. One of our best finds was a Nordstrom suit that looked practically brand new and had been tailored by someone the exact same size as Jared for about $60. You can't beat a suit for that cheap. The one temptation that we did have was this weekend when we went down south to visit Jared's family. There are way to many good malls and shops around. But, you would all be proud of us we didn't go to any of these places but actually found some really awesome Goodwill and used kids clothes places. Down there is definitely the place to shop for used clothes. I also found this awesome book store in Irvine where every book was a dollar. It didn't matter if it was a hardback or soft cover. So all in all we have found that this has been a lot easier then we thought it would be. We actually have really enjoyed ourselves. The other plus side is not having buyers remorse. You know you all have felt that when you buy something and then later on you regret it because it was too much or you didn't really need it or you could have used the money to pay a bill instead. Then you either think about taking it back or you do end up taking it back. But, when you only spend like $5 on a jacket or $3 dollars on a shirt it is a little bit harder to feel guilty about that. So, because this month went so well we have decided to do another month. Hopefully this next month goes as well as the first!!! Signing off for now - Jodi and Jared
