The Year is Marching by.....by Jessica

It really is nearly the end of the year, can you believe it?? As you may have read in the Healdsburg Tribune / Windsor Times , we are thinking about next years project. We've decided to do 12 one month healthy lifestyle projects such as: not eating out, eating vegetarian, exercising daily, etc. We've definitely NOT come up with 12 ideas...so we'd like to hear from all of you. Ideas?

After taking a Sunday morning trip to WalMart, I want all 12 of my months to include NEVER stepping foot in that store again. I HATE it in there. Where would I buy my cotton balls or deodorant though? It would take a lot of planning for me to eliminate WalMart and Target visits, but maybe I could be on a quarterly visit plan. Could I handle it if I go just 4 times a year...or would it just make those 4 times more miserable than usual? Something to mull over in this last 1 month, 3 weeks, 3 days of 2010.

I leave you with a picture of my family eating the worlds most boringest soup from my cookbook. Chicken, White Bean & Basil soup. There is only one more ingredient in the recipe that's not listed in the title. Chicken Stock. I couldn't handle it; I had to add celery, carrots, onions & potato. And some spices. Sheesh. Tell me who wouldn't????

So I have an idea for you guys...how about no sweets or chocolate for one month. That one wont be too hard and it is a healthy one. Just an idea. Cant believe this year is almost over. You guys did so great. You all definitely deserve a huge shopping day when this is over.

A no TV/Internet month but that doesn't sound like very much fun...and it makes the blog a little impossible...

Avoiding Walmart/Target/Costco is definitely possible. I boycott them in December and you would be surprised at the deals and options at the grocery stores.

How about living vegan for a month? No dairy, no meat, etc.

I have the same Walmart aversion! I don't know what it is either, but halfway through my shopping list I get an anxious panicky feeling telling me to get out of that building NOW!! I have been using online options, such as drugstore.com and my new fav = soap.com! Free shipping (w/$25 order), order in your pj's, no lines, no whiny kids in shopping cart - need I say more :)
