Gardening with a Black Thumb....by Jessica

I got my plants planted! Yaay!

I don't really know what I'm doing and I experienced some moments of frustration when I was flanked on both sides by my two kids fighting over who's turn it was to plant the next one. It was hot and the garden has many square feet - why must we be so close that our sweaty skin is touching?

The fence got repaired, a drip on a timer is installed...everything should go according to plan and I should have some veggies this summer. Right?

I planted many strawberry plants...I have a thing for strawberries. Mom made me a dress with strawberry patterned fabric when I was little (maybe 2 or 3?). This picture reminds me of it...but it didn't have a black background. Remember that dress? I wish I knew where it was...

I finally planted this weekend, too! Motsly herbs: Italian basil, Thai basil, thyme, spearmint, parsley, sage and my favorite....chocolate mint! (How could I pass that up? It actually smells like a cup of mint hot cocoa!) I also got tomatoes and broccoli. Yum. Now how long do I have to wait again? ;)

Your garden looks great Jessica! So much more organized than ours. At this point we're only planting in pots. Looks like your thumb is getting greener every day!

Marcella - I think I'm going to plant more herbs in the front little area as right now I only have cilantro and basil. I heard mint can totally overtake though so I was scared to plant it. What's your thoughts?
Jamie, thanks - I can't wait for them to produce also. I am optimistically hoping it happens this year ha ha!

I think I might beat your title of being the worst Gardener ever…but I still really want to do some gardening with the kids. Thanks for this post…from one black thumb to another.
