A Real Page Turner...by Juli

#13 on my list was to read a book. Just saying that now made me shiver. I can't really tell you why I don't like to read. I am sure it has something to do with having a short attention span {possible ADD?}, being able to predict the outcome or just being plain not interested in what the author is blabbing, I mean saying. My mom and sisters have graciously handed me down books that they are convinced I will love and thankfully they are short with really big writing, light hearted and easy to follow {who knew Dr. Suess had so many books?}. I really do appreciate those books, but without your hand me downs I am solely a theocratic reader and even then its a struggle to stick to that.

#21 on my list was also to watch Gone With the Wind. Not because I haven't seen it, oh no no no! As a kid  I vividly remember being sick and watching the first half, taking a nap and then pick right up on the second half. It's in my top 2 for sure. Jessica mentioned a book club and possibly reading GWTW {too long to write every time people}. So I jumped on ebay ordered my movie and book and BAM! I am ready to rock and roll. Well the book came, and then the book sat. A few nights ago I said to the hubster, "That's it, I might as well get this thing started" {can you sense the enthusiasm?} I pushed myself through 20 pages realizing I am readily familiar with the characters but did we really need to spend 20 pages on 20 minutes of conversation? And the writing! Teeny tiny and with literally no margin space. The only thing I learned is Lola makes a perfect book stand when laying on my bed and that it is really hard to hold a 1000+ page paperback book from 1970 without it starting to fall apart.

There was no crossing off numbers today, but as Scarlett would say, "I will think about that tomorrow, for tomorrow is another day!"

Hi Juli, we haven't met. I'm friends with Jessica. I love to read and even I find that book painful! But I've been neglecting reading myself...so I thought how about if a few of us read GWTW along with you then we all have a gathering on some rainy day when we can watch the movie together? What do you think??

Moheni, the plan is that my first book club book will be GWTW. I've just been too busy/lazy etc. to pull my thoughts together coherently enough to plan. But then Juli reads a book, I host a book club, we watch GWTW AT the book club and we've crossed off 3 items on our lists! So you're on the top of the list as a participant!

Maybe you don't like to read because you choose books to read that 1) you already know the ending to 2)have 1024 pages!

Hi Moheni, Nice to "meet" you! I would LOVE to get together and watch GWTW. The book club will be a challenge, but I am ready for it! I think for the movie night we need to have southern style snacks :) @justine you are 100% correct!

Despite your choosing of the longest book EVER...: ) I have to say Juli, it's one of my favorites to this day! Reading the last sentence is the best reward! You will love it!

I'm with justine, you have to get a book that you dont know what is going to happen. I read often and still haven't made it through gwtw! But if you get a club together let me know, that would be super fun!
