Serious Dumpster Diving...by Jessica

Have you all seen the movie Dive! ?

Synopsis:
Inspired by a curiosity about our country's careless habit of sending food straight to landfills, the multi award-winning documentary DIVE! follows filmmaker Jeremy Seifert and friends as they dumpster dive in the back alleys and gated garbage receptacles of Los Angeles' supermarkets. In the process, they salvage thousands of dollars worth of good, edible food - resulting in an inspiring
documentary that is equal parts entertainment, guerilla journalism and call to action.

Okay, I know some of you are rolling your eyes and thinking - "she wouldn't...would she?"

Well, if you know me well enough, or if you've been reading this blog long enough, you know that.....I would. I haven't {well, Zack says I sort of have along with other girls whose names will remain anonymous}....but I would.

Maybe if the offerings today had been more appealing I would have hoisted myself up and climbed into this dumpster, but it only offered up some slim pickings.

(Photo taken in the back of the Trader Joe's parking lot. Yes, these are the types of things that I do that have my children saying "Mom, please, why do you have to do stuff like that? Can't you just act like the other normal mom's??" I always tell them that there is no normal!}

I have an aunt who "dove" when I was a teenager (she most likely still does but I live far away and we don't talk of it). Anyhoo she lived near a huge University and she found the most amazing stuff. Especially great fashion finds from all those Univ. girls. I have this 'fear inspiring' awe of her. Course my cousins were a little less awed but benefited greatly.

Keep it up!
