Please Advise....by Juli

The craftster inside me is constantly screaming, "Let me out to stretch my arms!"
So fellow "J's" are buying new crafting items such as fabric and zippers
available to my little friend inside me?
Don't you think I would look so cute with little cut
out flowers adorning sparkly beads?
I keep telling myself that I could probably re-use and cut up some goodwill items,
that is why I am prompting this question...please advise me and my friend.

I don't know! I thought we'd said that yarn was okay if you were going to MAKE something, so I guess zippers and crafting items are ok if you're MAKING something. I don't know about crafting ITEMS though...like new scissors and hole punchers? (ha ha it took me awhile to even come up with some crafting utensil words)What does the other J say?

I would only be buying materials, not tools. But I think I will explore some re-usable options first. I want to make a headband with a flower on it and it's going to be really hard to find a used headband....ew gross too.

Hmmm... It would solve my fleece "problem". I'm always finding new crafts I'd like to do without finishing others that I've started. But what if you don't have unfinished projects lying around? On the other hand, if I know juli she's antsy to create something for the assembly and since we're not buying new clothes....

You can buy fabric at Pick of the litter, and other 2nd hand stores. It wouldn't be "brand new" from a craft store, but it would be semi-used/brand new at places like that. Not sure if I am making sense here??... Also, you can always hit up your friends for fabric, or two plastic brown headbands that have never been worn and are ready for decorating :)

Justine knows me too well! Since I can't buy a cute new outfit I need to accessorize and modify somehow. I have oodles of fabric, mostly cutesy quilting cotton and I need chiffon to do those rosettes...and beads. Oh and I also want to try these zipper roses. I really do think I could get some fabric or a shirt to cut up at a second hand store. But if I really can't find something I may resort to the craft store. And Amanda....if you have two plain headbands collecting dust I would be happy to take them off your hands!!!

They are yours! The headbands are like the tortoise brown pattern, and have a weave or swirly design (hard to describe on here) I have a ton of beads also... a big box full of them (they were my mom's). Not saying you can have ALL those beads, but you are welcome to pick through them :)

My mom had a TON of arts, crafts, fabrics, etc (I think a bag full of zippers too somewhere). I have donated a lot of it, but still have much more. Tons of art too. I should have my own rummage sale....

If you guys are looking for something, just ask :D

Yippee! I know my mom is really appreciating your mom's knitting needles! Maybe sometime I can come over and rummage!

Awesome, glad to hear of it :) Yeah just let me know, and I'll gather up all the crafts. I feel like I have my own craft store!

This is what Mom emailed me:

If you take crafting and art away from a Troup person, you are taking away a huge part of life. I, being the Mother, and master of protecting sanity have deemed it fair and not extraordinary to buy some art supplies. It is extremely difficult to find used art supplies at the goodwill.

Love You, Mom

Mother knows best!!!!!!!
