Ups and Downs...by Juli

35 more days until retail freedom! Black Friday has been a fear in the back of my mind but really it became a nightmarish reality when I decided to go to Macy's to "find Kit some jeans". I just happened to park at the entrance that forces me to walk through the women's she department, and I thought to myself, "Eh, it wont hurt to see (and feel) the boot selection. Then I saw these babies:

Hello Steve Madden's Inka boots

They were just sitting there innocently, the pair of them - in my size, saying, "Take me home... I love you and I know you will love me back!" My hand reached forward as my mind screamed "No!! No!! No!!" I disobeyed my mind (which I often do) and grabbed them, threw them on my feet, and oogled in the mirror. A sweet young lady was complementing their cuteness and encouraging the purchase. What was I to do?!? I did what all California elementary school kids have ben taught:

STOP
DROP
and
ROLL

Despite the awesome savings ($39!) I just couldn't do it, so I didn't.

So that was an obvious "Down", here's my "UP"

Justine and I traveled with our buddy and guest blogger Salina to a clothing exchange in Sacremento!

Justine and I got some great things and it made us even more excited for ours in the spring!

Here's a down again:

I bought these frozen pork and vegetable buns at the Asian Mart and the had a mystery item...EW! What is it?!?!? Needless to say, it went in the trash.

By the way "Black Friday" was a total bust. I left Macy's empty handed and depressed. I hit a couple thrift stores finding zip and was scared away from the fabric store when I heard of the 3 hour wait at the cutting table.  Blah!

I must say that you have got some serious fortitude to resist buying those boots! Kudos for sticking to your commitment, especially with only 35 days to go! :)

Okay so first of all, I can't believe you went to Macys; that is totally torturous. Yesterday was rough, but I'm even sadder today knowing that the swap thing is happening in the city :-( I didnt even get to go LAST year...now it will be another whole year before I get to know how wonderful it is...
Second, is the mystery item that egg looking thing? And was it inside the bun or floating around the bag along with the buns? Wherever it was, that is WEIRD...

Ewww! Ahhhh! A co-worker of mine was just telling me about fake pork buns where they put cardboard in them and add a bunch of spices to cover the taste. Apparently the consistency is the same as pork !? She also said something about fake eggs too. I googled both and it seems to be a hoax but these photos look like they want to tell a story of their own. Yuck!
