Good News, Bad News...............by Marcella

I’m the type who likes to save the best for last, so let’s get the bad news out of the way first, shall we? I got sick. During Healthy Living month. Ironic, huh? It was one of those mornings when you wake up and you just have that feeling. Sore throat, stuffy nose…you know.

Ready for the good news now? By around 7:00pm, symptoms are almost gone and I think I beat this thing! I’m amazed because I have a notoriously pathetic immune system – usually one of these annoying little colds would hang around for a whole week! I followed Dr. Juli’s advice today and got plenty of vitamin C: 2 mugs of hot lemon water, an Odwalla Strawberry C Monster (with the addition of an Echinacea supplement), an Odwalla Mango Tango (What? Haven’t you seen the big pack of mini Odwallas at Costco?) and an orange. Now I don’t want to jump to any wild conclusions, but could it be that a whole month of no sugar and all-around healthiness is the cause of my miraculous recovery? Could it really have made that much of a difference? What do you think?

Ok, on to bad news #2: Those stupid snails destroyed nearly all of my winter garden. No matter how hard I fought, they found there way into the Tuscan kale, Swiss chard and Brussels sprouts. (I prefer geographically specific greens. ;) As for the potato plant….well, it just died. I think the freezing weather might be the culprit.

But, the good news is I still got a potato crop! Here it is….(and yes, unfortunately that’s all of them.)

I'm proud of you too...and envious of your potatoes and winter vegetable garden. And embarrassed to admit that the whole geographically specific greens comment went way over my head.

Juli-Yes! Lemon water is wonderful! Thanks for the great idea-I'm totally a believer. Love ya back!

Haha Jess, don't worry-that joke was mostly for my own entertainment. As I was writing it I was like, "Hey...there's a theme here!" ;)
