Hoarder? or Tosser?...by Jessica

Everyone knows what I'm talking about. A Hoarder is the one who doesn't want to throw anything away and the Tosser is the one who will throw out the family pictures.

Just to keep things exciting, and to keep everyone on the house on edge, I've been graced with both qualities. To be able to hoard things voraciously, then toss them out in an impulsive frenzied moment is an interesting combination. It gets on my nerves and I wish I'd kinda fall in the middle sometimes but I veer rapidly between the two at the drop of a hat. Things could be going along quite fine, and I'm okay with everything and then ALL OF A SUDDEN I can't stand all the stuff we have and I want to throw it all away.

So what are you?

Hmmm, I would have to say mostly a tosser. But when it comes to buttons and fabric I am a little bit of a hoarder.

For the most part, I am a tosser too. One of my biggest pet peeves, promotional/marketing type things. I can't take those annoying mugs, key chains, hats and stuff. If Matt brings them home I toss them, he has to keep them at work if he wants them. I am a bit of a hoarder with makeup and shoes though...big shocker, huh?!

Definitely a tosser. I think it's because I have a really spotty long-term memory. Sometimes my family tries to convince me to keep something because there's some great memory connected to it, but almost never remember it - so it gets tossed! :S

Hmmm...I definitely come from a long line of crafty hoarders (crafty people tend to keep things because you look at something & think "oh, someday I'll use this to make....."), but now that I have kids, the hoarding has reached critical mass! I'm learning to love purging - if you don't purge the kids stuff it starts to take over. And despite my hatred of stuffed animals (you know they replicate overnight, don't you?) the grandparents LOVE to buy them for the kids. Purging stuff feels great - it's like losing weight :) Getting the kids to purge - that's like pulling teeth! I guess my inner hoarder is at war with my inner purger.
